  1. Call to order.
    1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m. by Karen Gerold.
  2. Pledge of Allegiance
  3. Welcome and Introductions
  4. Approval of Minutes
    1. Kerrie Shurtleff made a motion to accept the minutes and Kathy Baum seconded the motion. Motion passed.
  5. Treasurer’s Report
    1. Michelle Bossong reported that there was a total of $10,414.14 in the account at this time. After all allocated monies are paid out there will be a remaining total of $8,912.74.
    2. Krista Nader made a motion to accept the report and Kerrie Shurtleff seconded the motion. Motion passed.
    3. Committee Reports
      1. Legislative/Administrative
        1. Dr. Steffen and city and county officials met with the architect and engineers to verify that everyone is on the same page about our building project. The meeting went well. The town did state that the Trevor building is not in compliance with state law regarding a school building’s distance from the road. This could mean that the current 5th grade wing would need to be removed prior to building the addition. This would likely require the building of a second floor of at least 4 classrooms and a bathroom in order to compensate for that loss of space.
        2. Dr. Steffen reported that both he and the Principals will be out of the buildings on Thursday, February 4th in order to view other schools built by our architects.
        3. Dr. Steffen indicated that the district did apply for Race to the Top money. The district could get up to $60,000.00. However, there are many stipulations as to what the district does with the money and they have to do a lot of things in order to get the money in the first place. Despite having applied for the money now, the district may choose to decline the money in the future.
      2. Book Fair
        1. Kathy Fowler reported that the book fair will take place at the Trevor building March 23-26th, 2010.
      3. Market Day
        1. Linda Lozano will be coordinating Market Day for the 2010-2011 school year.
        2. Market Day made a $109.51 in January with 19 customers. The total profit this year is $936.98.
      4. Me and My Guy
        1. Jenny Loveless reported that there is a shortage of donations for food items for the dance. Any donations would be appreciated. The dance takes place February 6, 2010 from 6:30p.m. until 9p.m.
      5. Corporate Sponsors
        1. Darlene Lasch has volunteered to chair this committee. Thanks Darlene!
      6. Auction
        1. The auction will take place March 6th, 2010 at Strawberry Creek.
        2. There are a total of 115 donations at this time. A separate meeting is to follow this meeting.
  6. Old Business
    1. Bylaw Committee Update- This committee has not had the time to meet. No news.
  7. New Business
    1. Addition Fundraisers- Many possible fundraisers were discussed including but not limited to; Entertainment books (a presentation was given by this company), Rainforest Café, Traxside Roller Rink events, School Mall.com, Yankee Candle, and Jamba Juice. A decision about fundraisers for next school year will be made in March and finalized by April. We will need volunteers to coordinate the fundraisers.
    2. Parent Teacher Conferences- Michelle Bossong reported that the PTO will provide dinner to the teachers on Thursday during conferences.
    3. End of the Year Celebration- A possible party at Rinkside in Gurnee was suggested. The event would conflict with the Me and My Gal event. Due to general consensus, this idea will wait for a different time.
    4. 2010-2011 Board Election Information- PTO Board positions of both President and Secretary will be open for next year. Nominations will be taken in April with the election taking place at the May meeting.
    5. The April PTO meeting date will be April 12th at 7p.m. The first Monday of the month falls during Spring Break.
  8. Open Forum
    1. Vicki Fraley made the following announcements.
      1. There is a middle school dance scheduled for April 23rd, 2010 at the Trevor building.
      2. The coupon event will take place February 10th, 2010 at the Trevor building as well. The event begins at 6:30p.m. and will end at approximately 8p.m. There are currently 125 people registered.
      3. The mother son day at Action Territory is being planned at this time. It will likely take place on June 5th, 2010.
      4. Vicki recently saw really amazing conference flags at another school and is looking into purchasing similar flags for our school.
